SummerSkills Day Camp is small program with a staff ratio of 3:1. Customized programming ensures every camper has a safe, fun and successful summer experience.
Our staff are university and college educated with backgrounds in psychology, education and early childhood education.
Each week we take SummerSkills into the community in order to offer our campers more ‘life experience’ in a variety of settings. This includes visits to Laura’s farm in Stouffville to meet the horses and participate in farm activities as well as city trips to the Zoo, Science Centre, Centre Island etc. Several interesting visitors from the community will also visit us in camp.
Campers will bike twice daily, weather permitting. Our goal is to provide the instruction and (in some cases) biking technology that will enable every camper to ride as independently as possible. We take many bike excursions throughout the local neighbourhood and to the nearby parks.
Our older and more advanced riders will participate in trail riding and community cycling to promote road and safety awareness.
At SummerSkills Day Camp we take games very seriously!
Games and sports provide a great opportunity to introduce social skills and rules while encouraging our campers to interact in small and large groups in a fun, supportive environment.
Our new movement program BOUNCE!, increases fitness, muscle tone, body awareness and most importantly provides the sensory experience that benefits many of our campers.
Daily activities that encourage our campers to express how they see themselves and the world around them:
Stuff that crawls, flies, floats, oozes, slithers, grows and explodes! SummerSkills Science enables campers to learn about the natural and man-made world around them through interesting, fun, hands-on activities.
